Where did the name “Gum Tree” come from?
Lori wanted a name that conjured images of nature and that would work for both a cafe and a shop. She combed the web for plant, flower and tree names – but nothing was quite right. Then she asked Will for some Aussie words, and after “about twenty ridiculous ones,” out popped Gum Tree. And it was perfect.

What’s a Lamington and a flat white?
A “Lamington” is a traditional Aussie dessert of sponge cake dipped in premium chocolate, then rolled in coconut. Lily can’t get enough of them. With an extra shot of espresso, a “flat white” is essentially an Aussie-strength latte. They make ’em stronger down under.
How green is Gum Tree?
The concept of “treading lightly on the earth” is very important to us, so we make an effort wherever possible to source organic, sustainable, and earth-friendly products for both the shop and the cafe. From our baby bedding and flip flop doormats, to our gift packaging and to-go boxes, to the paint we used on our walls, we do all we can to reduce waste, use eco-friendly materials and be gentle with our environment.
Can I register at Gum Tree for my wedding? And, maybe someday, my baby shower?
Of course. Perfect for weddings, showers, or just because, our Wish List service is an easy way to let your loved ones know exactly what you’ve had your eye on. To start your own Wish List, or shop someone else’s, simply speak with a sales clerk.

Where do you find all of the products in the shop?
Lori sources products from all over the world. The criteria for selection is very simple – do I want it for myself or for Lily? Would I give this as a gift to a loved one? If yes, then we carry it!

We are open Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays.

How do you ship?
We generally ship UPS ground. If you would like faster service, express shipments can be quoted for UPS 2-day or 3-day shipping. Please call or email us for a shipping quote.
What is your return policy?
We are pleased to accept returns, with original receipt, within 10 days of purchasing or receiving the item for store credit only. Sale items and special orders are non-returnable.
Can you help me select the perfect gift?
We’d love to, in person or over the phone. We can also create custom gift bundles if you’re looking to spoil someone!
Do you offer gift wrap?
Yes, we love a nicely wrapped gift! All packages are wrapped, free of charge, in eco-friendly paper or craft boxes, and tied with our signature Gum Tree ribbon.
What credit cards do you accept?
The shop accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. The cafe takes Visa and Mastercard only. There is a $10 minimum purchase on credit card transactions.
How is sales tax calculated on orders?
We collect sales tax on orders purchased in the store or shipped to addresses in California. Residents in other states are responsible for complying with local state tax laws.
